27-29 October 2017 (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) 9:00am 4:00 p.m. on all days

Hong Kong National Wakeboard & Wakesurf Championships 2017

Tentative schedule:

  • 27 October 2017 Friday - Wakesurf Preliminary and Final
  • 28 October 2017 Saturday – Wakeboard Preliminary
  • 29 October 2017 Sunday – Wakeboard Final

Competition Categories:

  • Men’s Wakesurf Open
  • Men’s Novice
  • Men’s Intermediate
  • Men’s Advanced
  • Men’s Outlaw
  • Men’s Open
  • Men’s Master (age 35 or above, born in 1982 or earlier)
  • Women’s Wakesurf Open
  • Women’s Novice
  • Women’s Intermediate
  • Women’s Advanced
  • Women’s Open
  • Women’s Master (age 30 or above, born in 1987 or earlier)

**There must be a minimum of 3 riders to open a category.**


Medals and prizes will be awarded to the top 3 winners of each event category.

Entry Requirement:

  • Anyone is welcome to enter (See Rules below) All Hong Kong based riders must be HKWSA members in order to join the competition.
  • All riders must enroll through our official website below: (Application:
  • For the age group events, the age of the competitor is taken on the start day of competition.
  • The registration is a first-come, first-served basis will be used to fill up to five riders in each category except in the Open event.

  • All remaining applications will go through a random draw to determine the final rider lists.

The Organizer reserves the right to close entries before the deadline without prior notice

Team Entry:

For rider who participates in both wakeboard and wakesurf event, please choose only one category for team score calculation.

Team Scoring:

  • A team shall consist of a maximum of 6 riders comprising at least 2 men and 2 women riders participating in any categories.
  • The best 6 scores will be used to compute an overall team score.
  • Each team rider will be awarded the following points depending on his final placement in his respective category:
  • 1st place 100 points
  • 2nd place 80 points
  • 3rd place 65 points
  • 4th place 55 points
  • 5th place 45 points
  • 6th place 35 points
  • 7th place 30 points
  • 8th place 25 points
  • 9th place 20 points
  • 10th place 17 points
  • 11th place 14 points
  • 12th place 11 points
  • 13th place 8 points
  • 14th place 6 points
  • 15th place 5 points
  • 16th place 4 points
  • 17th place 3 points
  • 18th place 2 points
  • 19th place 1 point
  • 20th place and all subsequent riders receive 1 point each

Registration & Fees:

If the event is cancelled prior to the start of competition, due to bad weather or other circumstances, entry fees will be refunded to the enrolled riders through the online payment system.

Applications from riders with outstanding payments for past events will not be accepted unless he/she provides payment evidence or settles the outstanding payment.

Please note that we will ONLY accept enrolments online. Enrolments sent by smartphone communication applications such as

Whatsapp, Line, Tango etc will be automatically disregarded. We only accept Visa/ Master card for the online payment.

Please make a record on your online payment for future reference.

Only online enrolment by the participant will be accepted. Email registration, phone registration, or entry forms designed by others will not be accepted.

9am to 4 pm Preliminary Rounds (Wakeboard Novices and Wakesurf)

28 October 2017 Saturday

9am to 4 pm Preliminary Rounds for other categories.

29 October 2017 Sunday

9am to 4 pm Finals for all riders. 4pm to 5 pm - Prize Presentation

** A rider’s division may be decided at the discretion of Judges.

* The Organizer reserves the right to accept or reject any entries and have the authority to amend any judging criteria as deemed necessary.

Format & Scoring:

Each rider shall be allowed two passes through the wakeboard or wakesurf course during which time he/she may perform any routine he/she chooses. They will be judged on subjective style categories, to arrive at a single combined score.

Judges will award a maximum of 100 points to each rider based on their overall impressions of the routine performed. Riders found to be under the influence of alcohol or narcotics may be disqualified.

The judges will score each rider in each of the following categories:

Execution - 33.3 Points; Intensity - 33.4 Points; Composition - 33.3 Points

How to get there?

Getting to Sai Kung Pak Tam Chung Country Park

1) To Sai Kung Bus Terminus

By Bus 92 from Diamond Hill/Choi Hung MTR station;

By Bus 299 from Shatin Central ,

By Bus 792M from Tiu Keng Leng MTR Station;

By Mini-bus 1A from Choi Hung MTR Station near Ngau Chi Wan Fire Station;

By Bus 96R from Diamond Hill MTR via Sai Kung Bus Terminus (stay on until Pak Tam Chung)

2) To Pak Tam Chung

By Bus from Sai Kung Bus Terminus to Pak Tam Chung – Bus #94 (or #96R on Sunday)

By Car – From Ma On Shan – head for Sai Kung until you reach the roundabout with directions to Pak Tam Chung; From Sai Kung – head for Ma On Shan until you reach the roundabout and follow road signs to Pak Tam Chung. Take the road to Pak Tam Chung until you reach the barrier of Sai Kung Park. Park your car in the car park on the left.

Getting to the ski site from the Park’s entrance

A specially arranged shuttle bus will depart from the lay-by area on the right, immediately inside the Park barrier. No charge will be levied for use of the bus. No permits will be issued for cars to drive into the Park. Please be warned that in past years, the Police have ticketed drivers who enter the Park illegally.

Before the competition:

  • All entries to be confirmed upon receipt of payment.
  • Entry fee is not refundable once application is accepted, except in the event of cancellation.
  • All judges’ decisions are final.
  • Event categories and schedules may be adjusted at the Organiser’s discretion depending on weather, time and participant numbers.
  • All riders must attend the judging briefing; otherwise they may not be allowed to ride.
  • Wakeboard Rules: Team registration for the Open (other than for overseas teams) should ideally be supported by a HKWSA registered coach. Results may be taken into consideration in the HKWSA annual coaching awards. Team Entry Fee is $600.
  • By participating in the event Riders agree that the HKWSA may publish their name and image(s) in any material including official results and rankings and press releases without restraint.

During the competition & at the competition venue:

  • No one is allowed to climb over the fence.
  • No smoking, alcohol or dogs/cats (pets) are allowed at the LCSD venue. Violation of the above will result in disqualification from the competition immediately and riders (both individual and team) will not be eligible to receive awards.
  • Please pay attention and read thoroughly the Hong Kong Regulations Chapter 132 BC PLEASURE GROUNDS REGULATION beforehand.

It is your responsibility to safeguard the welfare of any child you bring to the tournament.
  • Please respect the instructions given by staff of Chong Hing Water Sports Centre and HKWSA organisers. We do not wish to jeopardise future access to this excellent site.
  • The organiser and judges have the right to make appropriate adjustments to the categories entered by competitors.
  • If a participant is under 18, their parent / guardian must sign their entry form.
  • Please keep the site clean at all times.

Bad weather arrangement:

In case of bad weather, please refer to the following tables for various arrangements for different types of weather condition. The fall back dates for rearrangement will be after one week.
