“There shall not be Left One Stone upon Another” Opening & Artist Talk

❝ Shifting from observer to creator, I capture the fragmented residual images of consciousness, reconnecting them by following the inherent materiality of the objects. In “There shall not be Left One Stone upon Another”, I engage with the historical dimension of "Nuclear Art." Rather than staging a political indictment, I internalize historical events into a meditative mode of spectatorship.
Through a dialogue between ceramics and moving images, I construct a space suspended between reality and memory. In a looping projection, ceramic Bodhi leaves rotate before images of destroyed trees, conjuring a mystical cosmos. These rotating white leaves transcend mere materiality, serving as windows into psychological archetypes. Amidst geometric equilibrium and specular reflections, I pursue fusion and harmony—cultivating, through perpetual rotation, an interior space for wisdom and self-awakening. ❞

𓂄 Vanessa LO @lutangli
Vanessa Lo received a BFA (Fine Art) in photography, jointly presented by the RMIT University and Hong Kong Art School in 2015. She received a Ceramic Creative Award by Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre in 2017 and participated Artist in Residence at Shigaraki Ceramic Culture Park (Japan) in 2018 and 2019 funded by Hong Kong Arts Development Council. Her work has been exhibited in Japan and Hong Kong.
She uses images, sound and ceramics to examine the complexities of humans, the fleeting nature of memory, and the introspection. Typically her work relies on a tension between an apparently approachable subject matter and a darker, sometimes disturbing subtext. Her work is a symbolic narrative of spirituality and perceptions of reality. She creates cinematic environments that explore how people interact with the surroundings.
