Talk: Understanding Grief After Loss

Even when a beloved has passed away for some time, the sorrow can remain. Many wonder: Is this an illness? If, despite the passing of time, the grief still feels impossible to let go, does that mean something is wrong?

And what of the future — how should life be lived when the weight of loss continues?

--

Still, With Us is an exhibition centred on the theme of love and loss, inviting audiences to reflect on the question: after loss, in what ways does love continue to exist? Through Jada Poon’s portrait photography and the narratives of those who have lived through such experiences, the exhibition portrays the suddenness of loss, the long process of farewell, and the many faces of grief. It is a gentle, contemplative journey that encourages us to pause, to feel, and to remember: love does not end with parting.

Alongside the exhibition, a series of public programmes will be held, including talks, workshops and panel discussion. These explore topics such as miscarriage and childbirth, transforming grief into art or advocacy, experiences of loss within Hong Kong’s high‑pressure culture, and the death of pets. Music therapy, writing, sand art, and expressive arts workshops will offer participants gentle pathways to process emotions and explore healing.
