About this event
In Chinese families, caregiving is seen as love but can become an invisible chain. How can caregivers cope when the family “beast” consumes personal space? How can they find a way out?
This talk features Hong Kong journalist Vivian Tam, sharing insights from her personal story - As the only able-bodied member of her family, she unveils the trauma and loneliness behind caring for loved ones with schizophrenia, stroke, and dementia. Joining her is Grace Cheng, founder of social enterprise Agewhale, who will share how community support, personalized care plans, and workplace systems can empower caregivers and prevent isolation.
Together, they’ll explore the struggles behind “filial piety,” finding balance between family and self, and building a truly supportive city. Join us for this dialogue on love, responsibility, and liberation—and discover the key to unlocking The Family Lock.
