G.R.E.E.N. Hospitality Hackathon encourages stakeholders to work together to find innovative sustainable solutions for the industry.

The event will take place at LKF Garage (by Deloitte) and Explorium Hong Kong (Lai Chi Kok). While the event is predominantly physical, online participation is possible - please reach out to us if you want to take part virtually as an individual/team (hackathon@greenhospitality.io). NO PRIOR EXPERIENCE OR KNOWLEDGE IS NEEDED TO TAKE PART IN THE EVENT - THERE WILL BE A PREPARATION PHASE WITH WORKSHOP(S).

The ticket to the Hackathon gives every participant access to the pitching event (the Innovation Night) - there is no need to purchase 2 separate tickets.

TEAMS

  • You do not need to have a team when registering - you can register as an individual or as a team and state whether you are looking for team members.
  • We will do the matchmaking once all the participants are confirmed.
  • Each team needs to have at least 3 and a maximum of 4 members.

Who can form a team?

  • Students from any high school or university (18 years+)
  • Hospitality companies and their staff
  • Members from the industry/civil society organisations/start-ups

PROGRAM

We have curated this event to be a great educational experience for all the participants. In order to get everyone on the same page, we have prepared a series of virtual workshops on Social Innovation, Design Thinking and Pitching. On the day of the main event (21st November), teams will be working to finalise their ideas, discuss them with mentors and pitch the final "product" to the panel of judges.

WORKSHOPS SCHEDULE *

  • 9 Nov (Mon), 19:00-20:00 - Introductory Call + What is Social Innovation
  • 12 Nov (Thu), 18:30-20:30 - Design Thinking Workshop
  • 18 Nov (Wed), 20:00-21:00 - Pitching Workshop

*dates and times are subject to change; sessions will be recorded and made available to all the participants in case they cannot attend the live workshop(s).

PRIZES

The winners will take home cash prizes and goodies from our sponsors as well as tickets for the G.R.E.E.N. Hospitality Conference 2021.

Cash awards:

  • 1st place - 5,000 HKD
  • 2nd place - 2,000 HKD
  • 3rd place - 1,000 HKD

MENTORSHIP & JUDGING

Each G.R.E.E.N. Hospitality Hackathon participant will benefit from the presence of mentors who are experts from relevant fields such as hospitality, innovation, entrepreneurship, tourism and more. Our mentors and judges are from organisations such as Deloitte, Mandarin Oriental or Big Idea Ventures. There will be optional preparation activities 2 weeks before the hackathon that will be shared with the registered participants.

COVID MEASURES

Our team is closely monitoring the current public health situation and will keep the participants updated as promptly as practicable. Below are the measures that will be taken to ensure the safety and comfort of our hackathon participants. All participants will need to comply with these measures.

Social distancing & event space rules:

  • Participants must sign a health declaration form at the entrance to the venue
  • Everyone has to wear a mask at all times when inside the space (except when eating or drinking)
  • Teams and individuals to maintain social distance from each other as much as possible (1,5m from other individuals/teams)
  • Participants are to refrain from direct sharing of food
  • Participants will be reminded to wash their hands regularly and thoroughly and to carry a hand sanitizer for use when soap and water are not readily available (sanitasires will be also available across the venue)
  • Participants are to avoid using their hands to touch their eyes, nose, and mouth
  • If the registered participant is feeling unwell or experiencing flu-like symptoms including fever, chills, headaches, sore throat, cough or shortness of breath, s/he must stay at home or see a doctor
  • Participants who live with, or are in close daily contact with, anyone who has returned to Hong Kong from overseas within the past 14 days pose a risk and will not be allowed to enter the venue
  • Participants will be required to take mandatory temperature checks at all office entrances. If the temperature exceeds 37.3°C and there are symptoms of cough and breathing problems in a participant, s/he will not be allowed in the venue
